Setting Defaults and Preferences
- The parameters in the following menus/dialogs are saved within the PartMaker .JOB file
-
- View > Preferences
- Job Optimizer > Defaults Turning
- Job Optimizer > Defaults Milling
- File > Setup Sheets > Generate Setup Sheet > Optional Job Parameters
- Simulation > Simulation Options
- File > Save Solid Model in Job File
- Solids > Solids Options
- View > Dimensions and Notes
- View > Toolbars
- View > Overlapping Face Windows & Display Windows Icons
- PROBLEM: PartMaker will revert to the settings stored in the last opened .JOB file which may be different than your current preferred settings.
- SOLUTION: Create a desktop shortcut which automatically loads a default job with your preferred settings. If you open a job file which changes your settings you can close PartMaker and reopen using the shortcut and all your preferred settings will be restored.
- Create an empty job file with your preferred settings
- Open a Job file that has all of the settings that you prefer or manually set your preferred settings
- Go to File > New Job
- Go to File > Save Job File As
- Save the job file to a folder location such as “C:\PartMaker\Pm-Swiss”
- Give the file a name such as “default.job”
- Create a desktop shortcut which automatically loads your default job
- Right click on the application shortcut you to wish to load the default job settings
- Choose properties
- Append the shortcut target executable with the path and file name of the default job putting one space and the path name in double quotes
- Click OK
Example
C:\Autodesk\PartMaker 2024\exec\Pm-swiss.exe" “C:\PartMaker\Pm-Swiss\default.job”
