Explaining 2D Cutter Compensation
Apply Comp in PartMaker- PartMaker compensates for the tool radius during toolpath calculation and no G41/42 is output into NC code. No value is put into the machine control.
Apply Comp in PartMaker and Left/Right- PartMaker compensates for the tool radius during toolpath calculation and G41/42 is output into NC code. This is known as Wear Compensation the value needed to compensate the toolpath for final part size is input into the machine control. This is only the amount the tool needs to be compensated to create the correct part dimension.
No Apply Comp in PartMaker and Left/Right- PartMaker does not compensate for the tool radius during toolpath calculation and G41/42 is output into NC code. This is known as Full Compensation the value needed to compensate the toolpath for final part size is input into the machine control. This is the tool radius and the amount the tool needs to be compensated to create the correct part dimension.
